Abiodun Akinwuntan now Associate Dean for Research at GHSU's College of Allied Health Sciences

The Nigeria Physiotherapy Network congratulates Dr. Abiodun Akinwuntan on the confirmation of his appointment as the substantive Associate Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences at the Georgia Health Sciences University (GHSU). You will all recall that we carried the news of Dr. Akinwuntan to the post of Interim Associate Dean in 2012 (See news repeated below).

Dr. Andrew Ballas, Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences at GHSU was full praise for Dr. Akinwuntan's leadership and industry during his tenure as Interim Associate Dean; "Under Dr. Akinwuntan’s energetic leadership, our college has seen remarkable growth in research productivity, value, support, and financial sustainability,”

October 19, 2012: Abiodun Akinwuntan appointed Interim Associate Dean for Research at GHSU's College of Allied Health Sciences

Dr. Andrew Balas, Professor and Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences at the Georgia Health Sciences University (GHSU) decided to reorganize his College's Research leadership team and explore synergism between education and research. After consultations, he readily found an able and capable individual in our own Abiodun E. Akinwuntan, PhD, MPH, Associate Professor of Physical Therapy, Neurology and Ophthalmology, whom he has elevated to the position of Interim Associate Dean for Research in GHSU's College of Allied Health Sciences. In a statement recently released to the GHSU Community, Dr. Balas has the following to say about Dr. Akinwuntan, "Abiodun leads the innovative driving simulation laboratory and as principal investigator attracted significant extramural research funding. He is an ambitious, effective collaborator and participated in the Leadership Augusta program. Please join me in welcoming Abiodun Akinwuntan to our research leadership…."
 
Dear Colleagues and Elders, once again, please join us in congratulating Dr. Abiodun Akinwuntan for this well-deserved elevation as Interim Associate Dean for Research at GHSU's College of Allied Health Sciences. It is worthy to note that Dr. Akinwuntan recently completed a Masters in Public Health degree at the GHSU, thereby adding public health expertise to his excellent research expertise in Driving Simulation after Neurological lesions. Dr. Akinwuntan was also one of the two GHSU faculty selected to the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Augusta Class of 2012. The Leadership Augusta enrolls the best and brightest community members in a 10-month program to develop leadership skills, foster understanding of the major issues facing the region, improve communication among leaders of disparate backgrounds and interests, and inspire civic involvement. Dr. Akinwuntan successfully completed this leadership program a few months ago.
