Brief Biography (If Available) Dr. Sunday R.A. Akinbo, the Head of Department of the University of Lagos Physiotherapy program has been promoted to the post of Associate Professor effective immediately. Akinbo becomes the first alumnus Lecturer in the Lagos Physiotherapy program to be so elevated.

Professor Akinbo graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL) with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy in 1990. His BSc Dissertation was titled "Clinical presentation and management of osteoarthritis: Lagos University Teaching Hospital Approach". He bagged a Master's degree (MSc) in Anatomy from the Department of Anatomy CMUL in 1992. His Masters thesis was titled "Electrical stimulation effect on denervated quadriceps femoris muscle on experimental rats". Dr. Akinbo recently was awarded a PhD from the Department of Physiology, CMUL in 2005. His PhD Dissertation is titled "Cardiovascular responses in patients with cervical spondylosis during traction and management of cervical spondylotic pain".

Dr. Akinbo, otherwise known as Sunday by his peers was born on October 17, 1964. Sunday entered academia in 1993 immediately after completing his Master's studies as Assistant Lecturer at the CMUL (1993-1996). He became Lecturer Grade II (1996-1998), Lecturer Grade I (1998-2001), Senior Lecturer (2001-2010) and Associate Professor (2010-present). Sunday was appointed Consultant Physiotherapist by the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in 2000-present, Academic Co-ordinator by CMUL from 1999-2001 and Head of Department of both the clinical and academic physiotherapy program at CMUL in 2007.

Dr. Akinbo is the current Editor-In-Chief and Chair, Editorial Board of the Nigerian Journal of medical Rehabilitation (Journal of the Medical Rehabilitation Therapist Board of Nigeria), Editor Nigerian Quarterly Journal of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Akinbo is very well published and author of over 35 peer reviewed journal articles, numerous local and international conference presentations and a book.
